Left Behind

Left Behind by Damian Gadal
Left Behind, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Those yesterdays were just moments
best forgotten and slowly left behind
age breaking them into fragments
to float away on the river of time...

Convinced the nightmare is paradise
we scurry about caught in a grind
we know no other way to see things

Locked in

Locked in by Damian Gadal
Locked in, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
This world and all that comes with it are ours to try and understand,
from its depths and soaring heights, love and loss always close...
we're locked in until death frees us from this realm.

RE, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Try and remember
the joys we once shared
Try and remember
our times together
Try and remember
that summer I went away
Try and remember
life's something we all pass through
I'll always remember
my love for you

The end is our certainty, waiting out in time
a destiny that awaits us all, it's set in stone

Fading Chevy

Fading Chevy by Damian Gadal
Fading Chevy, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
My fading Chevy a reminder of days gone by,
to a time when light broke through the darkness,
when glorious was the warming light of day,
the world filled with just a little more kindness,
and life held more thrill than pieces of tragedy

Breaking Up

Breaking Up, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Frustration filled the years
with disaster confirming fears
all starting with the fall of Eden
on that day evil made its stand

Truth?

Truth? by Damian Gadal
Truth?, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Who can you trust in a world that sells lies? When the truth
is pushed to back pages and an inconvenient there's not much
chance in the words we're being fed ringing true.

Not so fresh, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The past fades into an indistinct blur
of things that might have happened
of but only we could be sure

The light of escape

The light of escape by Damian Gadal
The light of escape, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Death approached from all corners, slowly advancing
day by day taking from us a little more of life
hovering above, casting a shadow upon all
pointing us toward that light of escape, our final goodbye

Green and Red Beauties

Green and Red Beauties by Damian Gadal
Green and Red Beauties, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
I decided to play with some of the built-in effects on my little Sony NEX-7 and I have to tell you they're fun. Isn't that what photography should be?

Ready for adventure by Damian Gadal
Ready for adventure, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
A future of possibilities was just ahead,
the road was filled with promise and surprise,
and the world still believed in big ideas...

A meshed world

A meshed world by Damian Gadal
A meshed world, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
We've caged ourselves in with complexity,
made the world hard to understand,
all because we were afraid of simplicity

Hell

Hell, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Stand alone with anger at your back
to survive the next subtle attack
align you eyes, focus them hard
gaze into the empty sky
look hard, look long
salvation is slow to come...

Falling Down

Falling Down by Damian Gadal
Falling Down, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
This revision of days didn't keep us on our feet,
we told ourselves things we wanted to believe...
letting the truth just fall away...

Night Life

Night Life by Damian Gadal
Night Life, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Trembling,
trembling,
hands wept with fear,
as another night drew near.

Beckoning,
beckoning,
voices from beyond our sight,
calling on threads of frigged fright,
call on us for deliverance from the night.

Whispering,
whispering,
in nocturnal blight,
tell us of those born into passion and fury,
tell us of those weary and weak,
tells us of Kings bold and meek,
Bishop bears down upon pawn,
and the world will roll into dawn...

Crying,
crying,
night nearly gone,
you rob him of his youth,
passing time from which you grow,
hidden in shadows from the truth,
your deed is now done,
time to vanish, time to run...
and beat that eastern glow,
of another rising sun...

To bring you my love

To bring you my love by Damian Gadal
To bring you my love, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
and where will I be
and what will you do?
I know you'll remember me
and I you

What will happen between the days
darkness chasing the dawn
wrinkles come when the blinds are drawn

You were there and so was I
but that is gone
and yet I still wonder why

I'll linger and ponder in the past
chasing tomorrow until today
is gone at last

and still...

where will I be
and what will you do
will you remember me
and I you?

Magic Moment

Magic Moment by Damian Gadal
Magic Moment, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
My beach of memories,
of long walks in winter's cold.
What seems like yesterday,
was over a year ago.
Nights alone, feeling very small,
below a million stars,
waiting for one to fall,
my life comes into perspective.
Tonight, tonight,
at the world's crest.

Sinking with the sand,
waiting for the next big
wave to come and take
me to some dark and foreign land.
The tide that roars,
edges near, and the fog
threatens to clear,
and show that there is
no way out.

Flowing with green
undercurrent,
caught in the riptide,
you drifted away, away, away...
