A world of words

A world of words by Damian Gadal
A world of words, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Age rolled down her face in lines
as she reflected back on better times
her's was a lonely world of words
journals filled with bitter love hurts
all those fading faces and fading names
victims of love's war campaigns
left falling off of crumbling pages
and forgotten in memory's final stages

Just Can't Be

Just Can't Be by Damian Gadal
Just Can't Be, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
It was born before numbers
waiting among choppy waters
for its time, for its calling
for motion, ready to roll
doing its just duty faithfully
repeating an instinct perfectly
moving through doors of longitude
moving forward untiring
blown forward by malignant breeze
and vicious attitude
towards calling shores
closer, closer
climbing up its back
rolling forward into suicide
and its corpse is retracted
by subsequent riptide...

Congested Miles

Congested Miles by Damian Gadal
Congested Miles, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
We crawled slowly along the congested miles
pushing toward the future, seeking our escape
hoping the road ahead held a different fate

We stood above time
with fall below waiting
a changing of the guard
between the seasons
of our narrow passing

Run Down Dreams

Run Down Dreams by Damian Gadal
Run Down Dreams, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Dreams are for the young,
they run down and run out
for all the rest of us stuck
running out the clock
in this world of nothingness

Spray not

Spray not by Damian Gadal
Spray not, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
It came without warning
caught us by surprise
and swept through burning
everything in sight...
that fire of love
Spray not the waters
that sooth these desires

In the forest

In the forest by Damian Gadal
In the forest, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
It was in the forest that she felt free,
away from the distractions of the city,
a place where nature's in harmony

There's no magic potion,
nor secret control switch
to set the world right...
It's always been tragic...

Tech Stop

We've become very dependent on computers, in fact many of our daily routines depend on them.  So, when something goes wrong, life as we know it seems to come to a standstill.

For me, the issues with flickr being down have and an impact.... sure I can do other things, and have been, but still, I've built up routines around flickr, such as blogging. Can't do that as well when a site is down.  Good thing I've got a Plan B.

When hearts turn cold

When hearts turn cold by Damian Gadal
When hearts turn cold, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Our world ceases to be when our heart turns cold,
shutting out all meaning, eating away the fabric of our souls

Take Notice

Those perfect moments are around us still, just waiting for us to slow down and take notice.

Digital Clutter

Our connection was broken,
our circuits had died...
we'd left much unspoken,
across our digital divide...

One, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
A simple trek through the void
trying to navigate the path....
a journey of obstacles until the end
we're all just one, and the same too

Fading Light

Fading Light by Damian Gadal
Fading Light, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Long walks in winter's cold
on a beach of sand and stone
in a begotten land of days of old
stretched across the miles
treading along in a straight line
this night alone and small
soon to stare into the stars
and wait for one to fall
trekking along in an emotional retrospective
tonight at the world's crest
immensity putting forth a truthful prospective
and settling the questions bothering me
as the sun sets off in the west

We connected over the wires, signals reaching
across the divide, linking us together...
The vapor of our dreams nearly tangible...

Happy Felix

Happy Felix by Damian Gadal
Happy Felix, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
I feel truly blessed.  Yesterday, I was took my cat of fifteen plus years to the vet, convinced that I would be putting him down.  He hasn't been eating or drinking much, and it seemed that his time had come.  That wasn't the case, and he got a better bill of health than I expected.  So the little guy will be around a little longer to bring more joy into my life.  The lesson in all of this is that faith goes a long way, and that everyday we're blessed with little things... and big ones too... but it's the little ones that are the most meaningful.

Johnny's Home

Johnny's Home by Damian Gadal
Johnny's Home, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Those demons we thought we'd conquered
troubled ghosts from the past find us again
another confrontation, a resurging addiction
the weary road of scorned lovers and drunkards
if Johnny's home our days must be numbered
