Amatsu

I lost my beloved Amatsu on Saturday...
he was with us through so many things,
eighteen years of unconditional love and joy,
and such a big big part of my life....
heartbroken doesn't even come close to describing
the loss that I'm feeling.... so long my friend,
know that you were truly loved.

All I want to do

There is going to be a train wreck tonight
but all I want to do is sleep
well, they say the sky is going to fall
and the world will be destroyed
but all I want to do is sleep
the thunder pounds, the sea rages
and guns sort out the crooks from sages
but all I want to do is sleep
vanity and lust acknowledge each other
with smiles and tongues
and missiles are shot off
headed towards the sun
but all I want to do is sleep
well, look, California has gone for a swim
and the schools have started teaching Russian
but all I want to do is sleep

Long Goodbyes

when love walked out the door
hearts closed down for years
tears dried and hearts froze
all was lost in time, so sing
songs of long goodbyes

Yeah, you

What are you trying to tell me,
haven't you said enough, stop
I heard music, it's roaming softly
through the cells in my head
don't chase it away, leave it
no righteousness, nor cream
colored lies, shouting
proper ways to live
improper lives
you, yeah, you
shut up and go back to hell

Retaliation

He received a tongue lashing
so severe it sent him into a frienzied
retaliation of blasphemous anger and rage
quickly he seized his intended victim
and the moment of volunerability
brought on by surprize
as his friend now succumbed
to the superhuman strength of fury
his sanity slipped when he heard
life pass and now he's confined
to a padded cage

Worms and Lizards

Arrogant bastards
feeding themselves
on worms and beans
sitting on alters
next to greens
pounding on the heads
of their court jesters
clothing the king
with tar and feathers
gossip house
for the insane
rumors of nuns
snorting cocaine
avoiding the snow plows
chasing dairy trucks
mistaking them for milk cows
well you woke up
to an opera in your head
between the rocks
your feet in the clouds
the straight jacket
in the closet now
and your faimily
resting in the grave
your companions
lost their heads to the kind
for his chicken hair suit
you'd be next
but the bishop saved
your life when
he let the church bell ring
crowded slums
and your favorite sluts
would like to see
you die
and then feed the buzzards
or maybe taken away
to play with worms and lizards

Out in time

Things are much bigger than they seem
so glad, we're just passing through
making the best of idle amusements
on a roloving zoo
circling the sun
complex puzzles
missing pieces
out in time
creating heaven and hell
without resulting thought
mimicking the pantomime

Ocean Relief

There's something about the ocean
we can't quite put our fingers on
it lulls us, and steals our anger away

Mistakes

Two strangers
goodbye love
goodbye friend
strange the way
thingss turn out
unwilling to give
or to take
not one, but two
mistakes

Don't hold back

Don't hold back
that road to tomorrow
and bind yourself
to toil in sorrow
don't grieve for all
those obtainable lies
throw away
your hollow disguises
bring out that stranger
that lives deep inside
dying for the darkness
in which you force him to hide
bring him out
that inner vitality
release him
cast away the schakles
of opposing reality
suppressing them
is to no avail
for you must realize
your strengh
will not fail

Restored

The darkness breaks through
the light.... and in its wake
tragedies follow
the smouldering fires of hell
that forged the iron church bell
arise once more
as we fall into the hands
of the dream maker
and his magic lore
taking us to places
scarcely imagined before
until slowly, with resolve
the world is restored

Mr. Death

They caught you thowing
names around
like you knew everyone
in town
but you ran
when you saw
death's smile
and your friends laughed
'cause that's not your style
you took to the street
living on your feet
using everyone you could
with the same feeling
as pounding holes in wood
but your laughter you could
not refrain
when your friends expressed
their pain
so they ran you off
and left you held up
in a barn loft
then the preachers came
around
you took pride
in putting them down
they left puzzled
and surprized
your bitterness tore
sorrow from their hearts
and tears rained
from their eyes
a lynch mob marched
towards you with pride
as you ran off
with the mayor's bride
teaching that woman
vengence
never foreseeing the consequence
you used her up
in the years of running
threw her aside
and said goodbye
but she learned
your ways too well
and caught you
shot you, cursed you
to hell
and left you to die
gasping your last breath
you caught a glimps
of a smiling Mr. death

Bad Karma

Slowly and hesitently
I was dropping
dying over years
festooned treadmills
and torn faces
detail was an oversight
or an afterthought
most of the time
and advice was
always passed off
as hot air
and tried after all
attempts at resourcefulness
had failed
blind
negligence
passed off
bad karma
twice over

Join Us

The distasteful endurance of life
the somber faces, blank eyes glaring
beyond the past days of reason
voices chanting, bekoning
join us in the beyond...
where all is waiting

She Falls

She's waiting for me
and I'm running
and you know
she's been crying
yeah, see she's going
away on a train
by the sea
now I stand
alone, on the platform
watching and waiting
goodbye
she falls

Thunder

Sounds of thunder outside my door
the  pouring rain is all that's heard
only this and nothing more
sitting
wiating
anticipation abounds
the storm continues
coming in from over the sea
coming here to visit me
bright flashings
illuminated skies
again comes the thundering roars
crashing down my front door

Move me

Move me closer
speak to me
and I'm changed
and getting better
yes, all the time
and now is now
and what we are
working towards
we've got
and knowing
humbleness walks
through my heart
and so I've stopped
hurting myself

Closed Eyes

The mad dreams
too much tonight
these closed eyes
conceal my fright

Friday, November 13, 2015

Sum of its parts

I was prone
alone comtemplating
the dark velvet envelope
which surround me
oh, so often
just lying, considering
the sum of its parts

waiting for the fall

My beach of memories
long walks in winters cold
what seems like yesterday
was years and years ago
nights alone feeling very small
under a million stars
waiting for one to fall
thanking them for helping me
putting my problems in perspective
nothing at the highway's crest
but me enjoying the welcome sight
of a lonely moonless night
alone in emotional retrospective
thanking the sand and sea
for becoming a part of me

Communicate

Given too much purpose
given too much need
trying to hold out, a still shot
frozen by two cold eyes
never removed from memory
too numb to say anything
this is how we communicate

The Rain

It's wrong for us to think
we have so much power
for we still cannot stop
a summer shower

Monday, November 9, 2015

This long day

Shit on the radio
very tired
painful burning eyes
keep falling down
sore, so sore
my body tells me
no more today
let stones roll away
and bring a close
to this long day

Disconnect

Truth and mistrust
have begotten proper
misconduct, elections

Sitting on a wave of vibrations
a box of sound atop a hill
looking over your beauty at night
this is what I get when I disconnect

Sleep

Today is another late night
tans and muscles
roller skating
summertime fun
drinking their beer
along the pier
breakfast at ten
two drinks please
before I hit the road again
oh, the fun of knowing sleep
something lacking these days

Flashing Years

Consumated fears
thought flashes ahead years
a black mark in the book of deeds
vulgarity covering empty hearts
lust tonight
to meet your needs

Body and Soul

Plateau of calm
anticipation
getting over
what has not begun
dance with me
when you sleep

Captured

The phantoms were out to play
I shot down the reflections today
my camera captures friends along the way

Not their fault

Two restless youths
searching for delinquent truth
in need of tranquility in a violent land
in a quest of a guiding hand
striving for release
pent up anger and fear
the food of adults
and controlling hands
too young to realize
this is not their fault

Beside the tracks

Standing upon two shining steal tracks
feeling the stamping wild heard
hear the thunder, racing past, heading south
hugging the hills beside the sea
when we get to Mexico let me off
there are things I need to see
when you're ready to head on back
I'll be waiting beside two shining steal tracks

Ashes

Moving the puzzle forward in pieces
and rainbow now in fading bits
shines no more in memory gone dark
the fiery ring of yesterday now ashes

To find her

The apartment
waits for life
alone with furniture
and empty halls
just waiting
and listening
to street noise
wondering which car
will bring company
the walls
grow tired
staring at each other
where does she go
why does she leave
waiting empty so long
they send him
off to find her

Isolation Point

Isolation point zero
frozen here
for the next year
corners not allowed
in execution zones
did you get what you wanted?
are you really surprised
that some are born
to and endless night?
