I've still got a long way to go before I finish up going through all the photos I took during Fiesta. Overall the results weren't too bad. I've got a year to think about what I did wrong and right before I can try again.

Staring Down Waves

The nice thing about a backlog of images, is that you've always got something to work on. Lots of little surprises tucked into the past.

Leaving the Scene

Thought I'd work on some more "Summer" images, though these weren't taken in the Summer. The sun has been behind a wall of fog for days.

Recess Rally

All I can say is that I've never seen anything like this before. People are angry and speaking up, and the Recess Rally is another outlet for people trying to get their voices heard. We are living in interesting times.

I was going for some color when I could. Something to stand out against the dark of night.

I like these night shots because they are challenging to take and so different from anything else that I have the opportunity to photograph.

That Look

I tried to do something a little different and focus a bit more on individual people during a parade under difficult lighting situations. All without flash mind you, which meant concentrating on the available light and the subject. It's a challenge when your subject is moving.

Side lighting has a nice way of giving shape to an image.

Getting a photograph that's a little different is as simple as changing your point of view.

Valley of Shadows

Who said you couldn't do that?

Pre-Flight

Because they got such a late start with the balloon glow the sky is a bit darker than I wanted to be, requiring longer exposures and causing a bit more motion blur.

Filling the Balloons

I went to a balloon glow and had a lot of fun trying to photograph it.

Shooting moving objects (in the dark) in manual focus with long exposures keeps you on your toes, not to mention the fact your subject isn't always lit.

I'd say this is a great way to practice and reinforce your skills, learn to better think on your feet, and most importantly have some fun.

Like photographing fireworks, these opportunities don't come around everyday....
