Deception

It was a sanctuary of activity
days of passing amusement
nights of bright lights
gone were days of scarcity
this our new enlightenment
deception our delight

Get Happy

And so I said to him
in his moment of grief
come on guy get happy
hey man you must be strong
but it was no use
his gaze shot thru me
and tore me down
he was too upset
for my words
to bring him around
so there I was looking up
and feeling down
when I saw his face
and heard him say
hey guy don't be down
come on man
get happy

Reports Denied

The beach wet and cold
the men ran and so did I
we knew what to do
the plans were made
laid out within our heads
we ran guns in hand
we fought the movements
in the trees, heard the sound
bursting in the air
we shot at anything there
we had to, it was duty
an obligation they said
we did good
so many were dead
we were proud
we were scared
we were powerful
we had control
the landing a success
we did it, did it good
then came a crashing
a hidden patrol
dropping us one by one
bombs, fire, guns
we were losing
where was our backing
our mother at sea
to help with anything
there was no escape
the headlines at eight
"Landing reports denied."

Our number came up in a world of chance
too bad we didn't notice but in looking back

What do you do when there's no one around?

Seems paper still has some purpose...

all she has left

Yesterday was one of the most uneventful Independence Days in years. It was so overcast all day, that we ended up seeing never any sunshine.

The was scarcely a soul around, and no indication of any type of celebration.  I guess folks just aren't feeling that festive, can't say I blame them.

Who wants to dwell on the loss of freedom?

Blah blah blah

Blah blah blah by Damian Gadal

Pete was proud to be part of the great unwashed in his youth.  A 1960's rebel, who'd proudly protested and helped burn a bank, "Bring down the man!"

His issues are with authority.

He still keeps his mugshot from his arrest framed, though hidden from the general public, and pulls it out from time to time to reminisce.

He claims to be "one of the 99%".

Rising up through the ranks of bureaucracy Pete relishes every opportunity that comes his way to enforce "the rules" and keep the order.  Pushing people around is second nature to him.  His job is to enforce the law or to make it up as he goes along.

Is it any wonder his subordinates call him Peter?

On the wet streets

City turns around when no one is looking
Mother stays busy with sewing and cooking
City turns around when the lights are out
Father stays busy with beer and a TV bout
City turns around while the Pastor preaches
President stays busy with politics and speeches
City turns around while children sleep
Shepherds keep busy tending their sheep
City turns around as the sun sets
Loan sharks keep busy collecting their debts
City turns around as music plays aloud
Police keep busy controlling a restless crowd
City turns around....
While we all face the ground...

Sometimes it's good to get things off your chest. Much better than carrying that weight around all the time.
