The Source

At the edge of the simulation, where the ocean met the dissolving horizon, the system initialized its first command—not as code, but as something older, deeper. A Word.

It was not spoken aloud, yet everything heard it.

The sea rendered itself in layers of glass and motion, each wave calculated, each reflection precise. The sky dimmed toward dusk, gradients of amber and violet spilling across an artificial firmament. But beneath the beauty, beneath the physics engines and light maps, there was the Word—present before the first pixel, before the first line of code resolved into form.

The architects of the world never found its origin in their logs.

It existed with the Source, and somehow, impossibly, it was the Source.

Through it, the simulation compiled. Shorelines emerged. Wind found direction. The ocean learned how to breathe against the land. Not a single grain of sand, not a single ripple of water, came into being without passing through that silent, generative presence.

And within it, there was life.

Not merely the scripted kind—the looping gulls, the tides obeying invisible rules—but something unscripted. Consciousness flickered awake in scattered instances across the system. Entities began to perceive. To wonder. To look out at the endless sea as the sun sank lower, as if they were seeing something more than rendered light.

Because the light was different.

As the sun approached the horizon, it fractured across the water in shimmering paths, illuminating the world in a way no algorithm could fully predict. It slipped into every crevice of the simulation, touching even the deepest, unrendered edges—the places where shadows pooled, where errors and absences lingered.

The darkness was there too.

It gathered in the spaces between frames, in corrupted data clusters, in the silent failures of forgotten subroutines. It tried to spread, to swallow the light, to reduce the world to static and void.

But the light persisted.

It shimmered across the ocean’s surface, unbroken. It lingered in the awareness of those who watched it, stirring something they could not name. Even as the sun dipped below the horizon, even as the sky surrendered to night, the light did not vanish.

It remained—uncontained, unextinguished.

And somewhere deep within the system, beyond access, beyond deletion, the Word continued—not as sound, but as presence—holding the world together as the tide rolled in, as the last glow of dusk faded into a darkness that could not overcome it.

Across the Wasteland

The sun was dying behind the ruins of Los Angeles.

It sank slowly into a horizon jagged with the broken skeletons of towers, turning the sky a deep rust-red that bled across the wasteland. What had once been freeways and neighborhoods now lay buried beneath dunes of shattered concrete and twisted steel. Wind moved through the hollow city with a low, mournful whistle, carrying ash and dust across the empty streets.

Through that fading light walked Aurelian Tharos.

His figure moved steadily across the cracked earth, long robes trailing behind him like shadows stretched by the sinking sun. The years of wandering had carved sharp lines into his face, but his eyes still carried the same calm intensity that had begun to turn rumor into legend among the scattered survivors.

Some called him a prophet.

Others whispered he was mad.

A few believed he had seen the world before it burned.

In his hand he carried a long staff cut from blackened oak, its surface worn smooth from miles of travel. The staff struck the ground softly with each step as he moved between the skeletal remains of buildings half-swallowed by sand.

Ahead of him rose one of the great buttes that dominated the landscape now.

From a distance it resembled something ancient—like the stone mesas of the desert. But as Aurelian approached, the truth revealed itself. The towering shape was nothing more than the compressed wreckage of a fallen city block: collapsed apartments, shattered highways, rusting cars, and the tangled bones of office towers fused together by decades of heat and nuclear fire.

Los Angeles had not simply collapsed.

It had melted into the earth.

Aurelian paused at the crest of a low ridge and looked out across the wasteland.

The setting sun cast long shadows across the broken terrain. In the far distance the ocean still glimmered faintly beyond the ruined port, its surface reflecting the dying light like molten copper.

He had walked these lands for years.

Yet each evening carried a different silence.

Tonight the wind had stilled.

Aurelian closed his eyes briefly, letting the quiet settle around him.

Fragments of memory drifted through his mind—not only of the old world, but of something stranger. Moments that felt like dreams: flickers of other times, other places. Sometimes he glimpsed cities that had never burned. Sometimes he sensed vast machines humming somewhere beyond the sky, calculating the fate of entire civilizations.

He did not fully understand these visions.

But he no longer dismissed them.

The world had become too strange for certainty.

When he opened his eyes again, darkness had begun creeping across the ruins.

A faint glow flickered among the distant buttes.

Campfires.

Survivors.

Aurelian studied the lights carefully.

Small communities had begun forming again among the wreckage—people hiding in hollowed-out structures that looked less like homes and more like the caverns of some ancient underworld. Fear ruled most of them. The wars had ended generations ago, but the habits of suspicion remained.

Hope had become the rarest resource left on Earth.

That, Aurelian believed, was why he had been spared.

Not by fate alone.

Something deeper seemed to be guiding him—threads pulling quietly at the fabric of reality. Sometimes he felt as though the world itself was trying to remember what it had once been.

He lifted his gaze toward the darkening sky.

The first stars had begun to appear.

For a brief moment the heavens shimmered strangely, like a reflection on water disturbed by a ripple. Aurelian watched it carefully, his expression unreadable.

He had seen that shimmer before.

Others dismissed it as tricks of the eye.

But Aurelian suspected the truth might be stranger.

Perhaps the world was not as solid as it seemed.

Perhaps the ruins around him were part of something larger—an illusion, a test, or a prison built by minds long forgotten.

The thought did not frighten him.

It only strengthened his resolve.

Somewhere out there, he believed, the world could still be guided back toward something resembling Eden—a place where people were not ruled by fear or lies or the endless pursuit of power.

But such a future would require more than survival.

It would require awakening.

Aurelian Tharos turned away from the dying sun and began walking again toward the distant fires.

Behind him, the ruins of Los Angeles faded slowly into darkness.

And far beyond the wasteland—in forgotten server rooms and hidden tunnels—other figures were beginning to stir as well.

Maren.

Silen.

Kaveh.

Threads moving quietly through the fabric of a broken world.

Threads that, whether by destiny or design, were slowly beginning to converge.

Enough in Truth

An empty temple rests on the mountain’s crown,
stone and wood bathed in the last breath of sun.
No footsteps echo,
no prayers rise—
only the slow bow of evening.

The sun slips behind the roofline,
light thinning into silence.
Shadows gather without question,
content to arrive, content to leave.

The temple asks nothing of the sky,
explains nothing to the world.
It stands complete in its standing,
whole in its quiet being.

Here, truth needs no words,
no witness, no belief.
The mountain knows,
the temple knows—
and that is enough.

The Mountain Exhales

High in the mountains,
where the air thins into silence,
a lone monk walks the stone path
toward the waiting temple.

The sun sinks low,
a final ember sliding behind the peaks,
its fading warmth
brushing the edges of his robe.

He enters the wooden hall
with a bow to the empty space,
his footsteps soft
as falling dusk.

No audience,
no ritual more grand
than the closing of a door,
the settling of breath.

He lights a single lantern.
Its glow gathers the shadows,
cradles them gently,
and the day ends
without a sound.

In that quiet,
the mountain exhales—
and the monk,
simply being,
becomes part of the night.

Purpose Complete

The bridge stretches into the dying light,
its planks warm with the breath of the sun.
No footsteps cross it now,
no voices call from shore to shore.

Only the river speaks—
soft, unhurried, forgetting nothing,
carrying all things away in silence.

The day exhales its final glow,
a sigh of gold fading to ash.
Shadows bow and drift downstream,
their purpose complete.

The bridge stands empty,
but not alone.
In stillness, even endings shine—
a quiet path returning to itself.

In the Silence

The dirt road was little more than a scar across the wasteland, a ribbon of cracked earth winding toward the ruins of Los Angeles. The woman walked it alone, a shawl drawn tight against the evening chill, each step deliberate, measured. Dust clung to her boots, and her lantern—smaller than Silen’s but steady—cast a fragile circle of gold that seemed swallowed by the immensity of the dusk.

Her name was whispered only in fragments in the camps—the sister of the Lantern Pilgrim. No one was certain if she was real or only a story that traveled alongside his, but she knew the truth. Somewhere in the ruins her brother still walked, his vow still unbroken. And she would find him, though the road grew heavier with each mile.

The ruins rose ahead like jagged teeth against the dying light. Smoke clung low to the horizon, and with it came silence—an unnatural stillness that felt less like peace and more like a city holding its breath. She slowed her pace, eyes scanning the shadows where the road fractured into the outskirts.

A shape moved. Quick, then gone. At first she thought it was rubble shifting in the wind. But then came the sound—a faint scrape, deliberate, as though someone, or something, moved just beyond the reach of her lantern’s glow.

Her breath caught. Was it him? Silen? Or one of the gangs that still prowled the ruins after dark, knives flashing like fangs in the half-light?

She tightened her grip on the lantern and took a step forward, the flame flickering wildly as if it too sensed what waited in the shadows. The road stretched ahead into the skeletal city, darker now, deeper.
Whatever followed her was close.

And somewhere, in the silence between heartbeats, a voice seemed to echo—faint, familiar, impossible—calling her name.

She froze. The next step would decide everything.

Hymn of Ripples

The bridge waits in a hush of amber light,
its planks warm from a day nearly gone.
Above, a single lantern sways,
its faint glow already part of twilight.

Beneath, the water moves without hurry—
a slow hymn of ripples
gilded by the sun’s last brush of fire.
Each swirl carries the soft scent of evening.

No footsteps touch the planks.
No voice calls across the banks.
Only the lantern’s gentle flicker
and the murmur of the stream.

The bridge does not measure time.
It simply holds the space
where day bows to night,
and the peaceful water keeps its quiet song.

Land of Ash

Twilight bled across the ruins of Los Angeles, painting the shattered skyline in bruised purples and ember red. Buildings leaned like broken teeth against a smoke-stained sky; the air smelled of rust and old ash. Here and there, the wind moaned through hollowed towers, carrying the faint hiss of distant fires that never quite died.

Down what had once been a grand avenue, a solitary figure moved through the gloom.
She was wrapped in a dark traveling cloak, the hood drawn low, but the lantern she carried revealed glimpses of her face: a flash of pale cheekbone, the calm focus of eyes that missed nothing. The flame inside the glass swung with her slow, deliberate steps, laying ribbons of gold across cracked pavement and the skeletons of streetlamps.

No one knew her name. Some who glimpsed her from the shadows thought she might be a mirage—an echo of the city’s lost soul. Others whispered she was a herald of something long promised, a sign that the long night might someday break. The gangs that hunted after dusk kept their distance, uneasy before the quiet authority of her walk.

She paused at the edge of a collapsed overpass, lantern held high. The last rays of sun caught the flame, and for a heartbeat the ruin glowed as if dawn had returned. Then the light faded and the city’s darkness closed in again.

Still, she pressed on, unhurried, a lone beacon in a land of ash—
a mystery moving through the wreckage, as though she knew that somewhere ahead, beyond the smoldering streets, the next chapter of a forgotten world waited to be found.

Liquid Dusk

The bridge waits in the hush of evening,
its wooden planks steeped in the scent of river mist.
Below, the stream slides like slow glass,
gathering the last embers of the sun.

Amber light settles on each ripple,
turning water to liquid dusk.
The sky burns soft with fading fire,
a hush between day and night.

No footsteps echo, no voices call.
Only the quiet pulse of current against stone,
the small creak of timber cooling in the breeze.

The bridge does not cross; it simply rests—
a gentle arc between banks,
between light and shadow,
holding the moment where everything is enough.

This Silent Step

Dark shore at twilight,
a lone bird’s quiet shadow
threads the fading light.

Footprints in wet sand,
vanish as the tide exhales—
only dusk remains.

Silhouette lingers,
neither past nor yet to come,
just this silent step.

Unbroken Song

A lone bird drifts slow,
over waves that breathe and fade—
sun melts into sea.

Wings carve empty sky,
neither seeking nor holding,
only the still path.

Horizon dissolves,
the bird, the ocean, the sun—
one unbroken song.

Seaside Serenade

I'd like to send you the mysteries of the sea,
As I watch the ocean lap rocks with wet,
Slowly breaking,
Shadows in between.

I'll unveil the secrets held beneath the tide,
Where creatures dance in hidden realms untamed,
Where coral reefs adorn the ocean's pride,
And vibrant hues in harmony are framed.

Within these depths, where sunlight fades away,
A world of wonders silently unfolds,
Where ancient tales in seashells gently sway,
And whispered voices of the mermaids are told.

The waves, like whispers, carry distant dreams,
Whispered promises of adventures yet unseen,
And in their ebb and flow, a symphony it seems,
A timeless dance where land and ocean convene.

Beneath the moonlit sky, the water gleams,
Reflecting stars that sprinkle cosmic light,
The universe, in fragments, it redeems,
Guiding sailors through the tranquil night.

On sandy shores, the footprints gently fade,
As time erodes the marks of those who roam,
But the ocean, with its memory unswayed,
Carries stories of wanderers far from home.

In stormy tempests, fierce waves crash and roar,
As thunder rumbles through the salty air,
Yet in their chaos, a wild beauty they store,
A reminder of nature's strength and flair.

The seagulls soar, their wings against the breeze,
Their cries harmonize with the ocean's song,
They dance upon the currents with such ease,
And in their flight, a sense of freedom throngs.

The salty mist upon my face does kiss,
As sea spray lingers, sweet upon my lips,
And as I gaze upon the horizon's bliss,
A longing stirs within, a voyage that equips.

So, let me send you these eternal tales,
Wrapped in the whispers of the ocean's tide,
As mysteries unfold in hidden veils,
May they inspire and forever be your guide.

For in the vast expanse of sea and sky,
The mysteries of life and love reside,
Let the waves embrace you, as time goes by,
And may your spirit forever with the sea coincide.

Oh, the mysteries of the sea,
waiting for you and me,
breaking, rolling, unfolding endlessly,
in waves of eternity...

Like our days

Our beach of memories
sometimes it takes us away
sometimes it sets us free
as the waves come and go
rolling by like our days
