News

I don't normally watch old media news (CNN, Fox, etc.) but recent events, mainly the Earthquake in Japan, spurred me to do so.

It's stunning how trivial, uninformed, biased, and just plain bad the old media is.

Their tainted and sensationalized reporting is a true disservice to the community. To say they don't serve the pubic well would be an understatement.

Fortunately there are many alternatives now. I'm hopeful that more of the public will seek these alternatives out and leave the old media to continue with its meltdown.

Boats and Power

Woke up to no power. These days power isn't something we should take for granted. It's so sad that the powers that be are all talk and no action.

A modern economy can't run without a good infrastructure, something we are sadly neglecting.

Red Fresh

The recent storms we've had have taken their toll on agriculture. With more rain on the way, we can expect more crop damage.

Just another event helping to hammer away at a fragile economy.

Caprice Motel

It's been raining constantly for the past two days. This has forced me to stay in the house, and not wanting to waste the time, I used it as an opportunity to process images sitting on an external hard drive.

This image, though not much to look at, was taken in 2008. Part of the reason I've never done anything with it, is the fact that I like to geotag my images (since 2010 I have an iGotU device and software that does this for me).

I knew the general area I was in when this was taken, but that was a long empty highway headed towards Taft, California.

Determined to find the spot (made harder by the fact that this was taking out the window of a moving car), I used Google Street View and spent about half an hour virtually making the trip again.

Well, I'm happy to report that I found the exact spot. Gotta love technology.

You never write

Things have changed, but not so much that they don't repeat themselves.

Side of the tracks

I went out and tried to mix it up a bit. Didn't want the month to get completely away from me.

When you've got bad luck

My prayers go out to the people of Japan. The world often changes in an instant.... may you recover quickly.

We Ride The Waves

It was Saturday... I could spend the day doing paperwork, scanning, shredding, and all the other things I do during the week.

Gas prices being what they are, I wasn't motivated to drive around taking photos, besides I've got lots of unprocessed images.

I decided to play around with those images and put together a little montage.

Guess I've got some paperwork to do now, but all work and no play would have been a total waste of a perfectly good Saturday.

Left to crumble

Tell us of those weak and weary,
Tell us of those rugged and bold,
The countless who've passed here,
and left you as a crumbling road...

Gas

According to the government high gas prices won't hurt the economy. Really? On what planet?

Throwing money away

You see it everyday. Foolish projects done for political reasons, all at outrageous costs. It's no wonder the economy isn't getting any better.
