Age rolling down my face in lines
counting down the seconds of my life

Evil comes to defile
anger begot, death and destruction
disaster rides high
as we sail the Nile
eyes conveying militant smiles

There was never
enough time
between
what we had been
or what we
were going to be
to even dry that
tear from the
corner of your eye
so, it's now
and never more

Beyond Reach

Standard procedure
dead rat
and vultures
having seizures
surrendered emotions
the world turning
in slow motion
bargain bin lust
mother takes another lover
speaking broken english
there's no time for tea
father's mistrust
makes him so happy
court room drama
a half witted judge
presides over all
as your parents fight
over ownership rights
and you take love
running out to chase
the fading sunlight
on a silver haired lama
 and with you alone
Buddha confides
flowing with green
seas and undercurrents
grab you in riptides
drifting away
beyond the reach
of your lifeline

Back page smiles
here he comes again
that funny young man
and tag along friend
looking for transportation
and daytime lives

On the move

You can't say life takes you nowhere
as time moves you from here to there

Who's to say

Good conversation
good friends
hard work, self-pity
confusion, anger, love
worried
stupidity
inspiration
strangers are friends
dreams reality
and reality a dream
who's to say
what's real
but ourselves
if we exist
