Iris stood for a while and looked out onto the city,

watching the sunrise behind the mountains. 

The world seemed so peaceful and quiet.

Until she thought about Ryan, her ex.

That's when her mind filled with rage.

Iris moved like a shadow into the study just before dawn. 

It was unusual for her to be up so early, but lately, she just couldn't sleep. 

She would toss and turn. Plagued by uneasy thoughts. 

Last night was the worst. Might as well get up she thought.

Soon the City would come into being with the light.

The peacefulness of the world in silence soon to end.
