Sometimes you just can't pull over. I've been known to snap a pic or two through the windshield so that I'll have a visual reference for places that I want to go back to. It also helps to geotag images for others, which I try to do as time permits. I keep a little portable GPS unit with me when I'm out to make locations.
It won't be too long before GPS comes built into digital SLR's... making it a snap to upload your images with mapping data included with all the other EXIF information.
