Critters

I'm a big softy.... a stray cat showed up at the door yesterday (not this cat) and we fed it and made it comfortable. We put up signs and did everything we could to get it back to its owner.

I'd say that this cat is no more than four months old and as affectionate as can be.

Already having two cats and living in a very small apartment made it next to impossible to take in another.

The little kitty, which we started calling critter, is now at the local animal shelter.

It's amazing how pets and their unconditional love can so quickly touch our hearts.

My hope is that this cat gets adopted, and/or reunited with its owner soon.

So many animals are abandoned and I sincerely hope this isn't the case here.

Thanks little critter, be well, and godspeed you are with folks who will love you.

Good Reading

Hey Kindle folks, or anyone who gets one of those great devices for Christmas.  Make sure you check out the Kindle store.  There are lots of ebooks that are free, like The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes....  Still a great read!

Heading On Down the Road

I know a lot of folks are traveling now for the holiday season. The weather adds to the challenge.... careful out there. Be safe.

Misty Morning

With fog rolling toward me, out of the canyon... I stopped to take it all in for a moment.

A crying shame

Despite what the media "reports", the recession rolls on. In driving around yesterday, I saw whole blocks of businesses closed up... gone.

Pummelvision

This is about a year's worth of photos. It's strange, and yet inspiring to see them go by so quickly. Really a good way to get motivated to go out and take more photos.

Show Time

My camera never made it out of the bag yesterday. Circumstances just didn't lend themselves to taking photos....

Holiday Blast

Doesn't seem like the holiday season, and yet here it is... Lots of activities today, so perchance I'll get some photos.

Out of time

Last night I began to seriously consider giving up photography. Just hanging up my camera, and walking away from childish things.

I've no time for it.... I'm sharing the road with tumbleweeds and dust.

I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I could make an exception....

Take me there

I've slowed down and let time slip away.

Bone Dry

Not much rain yet this year. We could end up with another dry year like 2008 (when this picture was taken) and not much in the way of spring wildflowers.

Light my star

I'd been chasing a white rabbit at dawn,
Watching a stream of lights snake along the coast,
Just pushing along...

Getting better all the time

The State of California just can't get it together.  Hoping to get around the 2/3rds requirement to try and tax it's way out of a recession, California has turned to using "fees" to raise revenues.  A tax being a tax by any name, the voters nixed this trend of the bait and switch of fee for tax with Proposition 26.

This means fees can't be raised without a 2/3rds approval for State, and more importantly local fees.  So, toss the idea of fees getting California out of the hole it's in.

With Governor Moonbeam back in office, California could end up taking this to court, and as usual overturn the will of the people.

Upping the ante of dysfunction....  It keeps getting better all the time.

A little travel humor

We all know travel can be stressful, and the TSA sure isn't making things any easier.  It's important to be safe and keep a sense of humor, so in that vain, I thought I'd share these TSA bumper stickers floating around the internet.

Rural Living

I went up to one of my favorite spots called Knapp's Castle, which is an old abandoned stone structure to find that it's being worked on. I'm not sure if they're restoring it, or what's going on. There is construction going on, and from the way things look, people wont be able to come and go any longer.

It's a loss for hikers and photographers, and a gain for whomever is going to be living there again.

Above Town

The storm had started to pass, so I thought I'd take a drive up the mountain and get a view from cloud level. The view from up there was breathtaking, though I'd forgotten to bring my eye glasses.

That meant I was fumbling in the dark to get this shot. I couldn't tell if the camera was on the right settings, so I just sort of winged it.
