Figure it out

Figure it out by Damian Gadal
Figure it out, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
We run the numbers of our dreams,
daily extortion fees taking them away...
Corruption is the face of government...

Spin me
I'll tell tales for generations

Lucid

Lucid by Damian Gadal
Lucid, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Outside influences
throwing curves into your life
causing tailspins
preventing you from moving
in any direction
other than circles

Just how you found me

Just how you found me by Damian Gadal
Just how you found me, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Torn bits of memory
glimpses of times
remainders of the past
a collective nowhere

Tumble Down

Tumble Down by Damian Gadal
Tumble Down, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The walls we build to protect ourselves were never meant to hold up to the test of time.

Light Spring

Spring shines in possibilities
renewal blows on the winds
exploding in vibrant color
and washing up in dreams
and stirring imagination

Mechanized

Mechanized by Damian Gadal
Mechanized, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The world was run by machines,
we became part of the wheels,
turning with a new precision,
moved by the whims of others...

At face value

At face value, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The desolate leave behind
the greatest treasures
and the rich, just empty graves

Crossed Lines

Crossed Lines by Damian Gadal
Crossed Lines, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Your code of ethics insisting on a woman whose heart shines pure and white,
never escaping your ominous sight be it day or night.

Her strength and assurance is what you seek,
not the domination of one that's meek.

Someone to keep you moving in the right direction,
and to nourish your soul that oft grows weak.

Someone to share you dreams and mend your life,
to reinforce its seams.

If only that girl can be found, and cease your looking around
before you're six feet underground.

Iron Curves

Iron Curves by Damian Gadal
Iron Curves, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Endless babbling
recliner chairs
fifty dollar hours
inapplicable advice
rambling relief of tension
away from so it all
and the ward's down the hall

Fading prosperity

Fading prosperity, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
We're spoon feed lies and distortions to keep us complacent and not question the reality of our decline.

Greater questions

Greater questions by Damian Gadal
Greater questions, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
With her loving me like she does
my heart falls apart.
Now there's youthful abundance
of life fresh and unknown.
She's my daylight
from dusk on, forever...
No preface for forward gears
nor history books upon longing
shelves as we grow together
within ourselves...

Where find ourselves

Where find ourselves by Damian Gadal
Where find ourselves, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
I walked into the dawn
weary and looking for rest
stopping for a moment
before I carried on
my head followed the sun
into the west
away faded the world of my command
I ran into a place of rushing urgency
my eyes unfolding the contours of the land
the landscape glaring back at me defiantly
I was called here out of a purpose
that I somehow knew
I entered a town
still shaking off the morning dew
the inhabitants coming around
I stopped at a fountain dry
and there I stood
putting my hand into the sky
calling forth the people of the neighborhood
to bid them farewell
goodbye they said
pulling hard the sky fell
and reluctently I rolled
over in my bed

Have a nice day

Have a nice day by Damian Gadal
Have a nice day, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
George conquered his demons,
but not the ghosts they left behind,
nor the shadows they cast over his past,
that was a battle that would continue,
something he'd fight the rest of his life

In a fog

In a fog by Damian Gadal
In a fog, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Ghostly shadows move about,
bits of memory here and there,
things once clear we start to doubt,
every yesterday less and less clear

These red gifts from the vine
with spices we mix and combine
make a rich sauce so divine

Chrome by Damian Gadal
Chrome, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The shiny new days of youth took us across miles of years,
along uncharted roads of time.  Our destiny of discovery.

87

87 by Damian Gadal
87, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Moments happen in numbers,
one by one, until they add up,
and fade away the same way,
until we're left with zero

Old Media

Old Media by Damian Gadal
Old Media, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The remnants of a dying era sit in folded clutter,
their final destination a landfill awaits them.

Reminders of the past that the world tries to cling to,
in reverence and nostalgia, misplaced and unfounded.

Power Trip

We've lost connection
our wires are dead...
souls traded for data
in the vacuum it's said

Locked

Locked by Damian Gadal
Locked, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The helped we need is never easy to get to,
it's often locked up and beyond our reach...
we've got to work at solutions to our problems.

Movers and Shakers

Movers and Shakers by Damian Gadal
Movers and Shakers, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
We wore dollar bill faces
and pleading smiles throughout life,
collecting age and wearing our bones ragged.
Parodied with our "intelligent" games,
us inside out apes gone insane.

Modern Civilization

Modern Civilization by Damian Gadal
Modern Civilization, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Parting lashes into an overdose
of decay the world called reality
stretched flesh exposing tarnished ivory
blue exploding from sky and sea
green jumping from tree to tree
red blossoms diving at me
floating thru warm liquid paradise
enjoying the worlds new disguise...

Yonder they roam

Yonder they roam by Damian Gadal
Yonder they roam, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The time to lay it to rest
fell upon the land
there were two full hands
that belonged to the sand man
he gave the spirits the world for play
as the people slept for many a day
the spirits used souls on a whim
and teased them with obscenity and sin
and as the people woke from their rest
their behavior was suddenly at its best
Yes, the sand ran out but the people
were still afraid to move about
humanity a failure without a doubt

What do you do when your camera batteries die?

Use the next best thing, which in this case was my cell phone.
