Patterns Of Life

Patterns Of Life by Damian Gadal
Patterns Of Life, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
These cycles spinning, round and round
birth and death, seasons all their own
bring their own joy and sorrow
there's no avoiding the smiles nor tears
there's only today, no real tomorrow
and these comprise our years

Hi y'all

Hi y'all by Damian Gadal
Hi y'all, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Our new medium allows our voices to travel around the world,
and yet we've still got nothing to say.

The controls

The controls by Damian Gadal
The controls, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Control is a illusion, something we try and convince
ourselves we have over the circumstances in life,
when at best we manage to make it through a day

Ride Free

Ride Free by Damian Gadal
Ride Free, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Freedom should never be taken for granted,
if you blink it will be gone because others
have taken something you weren't willing to fight for.

Random Nature

Random Nature by Damian Gadal
Random Nature, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Our lives are filled with patterns,
random instances too...
it's how we interpret them that counts

Near Noon

Near Noon, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
The clock of time never stops,
going round and round,
morning noon and night

I tweet, therefore I am

Technology, it has come to define us...
for the good, and not so good,
built by us, it amplifies our nature
for all the world to see....

I've been here
for two decades
too long
It's time I was
moving on

Unhappy George

Unhappy George by Damian Gadal
Unhappy George, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
They boldly steal the fruits of labor,
and punish success with recklessness...

Lawmakers have proven they're not to be trusted
and yet, they get reelected time and again...

Until this changes and voters come to their senses,
we will continue decline... making the future bleak indeed

Auto Snap

Auto Snap by Damian Gadal
Auto Snap, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Digital photography just made another leaps thanks to Flickr which decided yesterday to give all users of free accounts one terabyte of storage for their images.

That's huge.  We should see a proliferation of photos like never before.  Now, more than ever the internet is becoming a visual medium.

It will be interesting on the hardware/software side to see what develops to support the change, and to see what Flickr's competitors do in response.

She glows

All sleek lines
and flash
she glows
and on the road
she goes
fast...

The worlds we make for ourselves just aren't the paradise we make them out to be

Dear John

Our thoughts summed up in words, our feelings too...
all these things that matter and need to be said,
flowing out from heart and soul...

There are moments when you realize you should change directions,
make a change of course and not follow along like everyone else

Our time within

Our time within by Damian Gadal
Our time within, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
A world that makes no sense
these confines we place upon ourselves
expectations of confusion and mediocrity
is how we can sum up our time within

Holding it together

Holding it together by Damian Gadal

The challenges of life overcome by will and determination,
throw in some faith and we're able to hold it together

The disbelief came from giving up,
and letting the world beat you down

Stop Me

Stop Me by Damian Gadal
Stop Me, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Slow business district
Ben doesn't what to be there
He's enjoying himself
Box Car Coffins and Caskets
Dying old men along on park benches with blankets
Trains race past in the night
Removing bums and beggars from sight
Fifteen miles from his home
A house of studies
Teaching him ancient beliefs to carry through life
Despite his modern facade
His age old wisdom shows through his eyes
Ben's footsteps sounding like rustling leaves
"This is life" he thought, you can't stop me
The intensity of color soon to stop
as Ben opened his eyes...

Door at the end

Door at the end by Damian Gadal
Door at the end, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Each step brings us closer to our destination
life long dreams awaiting just out of reach
all it takes is patience, focus, determination
for that someday to be ours in which to bask

So much more

So much more by Damian Gadal
So much more, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
This world is what we make it, and so much more. But nothing means more than the love we share with friends and family.

Blue notes

Blue notes by Damian Gadal
Blue notes, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Politics is a money game
where convictions have a price
and voters are just means
not the ends, nor motivation
for holding sway over a nation

Set and shadows

Set and shadows by Damian Gadal
Set and shadows, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Across the divide of time
when worlds began to tumble
the past mocked us
laughing at our undoing
one that we'd created
pillars of ego unable to support
eon upon eon of self grandeur and folly

You're all but lost

You're all but lost by Damian Gadal
You're all but lost, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
When you give up
when you stop chasing dreams
when you let passion fade
when life becomes just another day...
You're all but lost

Don't give up
keep going
dream new dreams
live, love, share, learn
be

the world became cold
a void without life

echoed in silence

Dream

Dream by Damian Gadal
Dream, a photo by Damian Gadal on Flickr.
Tis better to make our dreams come true,
than to sit around and think of things that might have been...
